Cities are shaped as much by the people who live in them as by the planners who design them. Citizen Stories is where we make room for that everyday expertise — the commute that never quite works, the park that brought a block together, the small fix that made a neighbourhood better. If you have a personal story about urban life, we want to help you tell it.
What We’re Looking For
We welcome stories from everyday citizens about their lived experience of urban spaces — the challenges of public transportation, the joys of a well-loved local park, the need for better infrastructure, or anything in between. Your story helps illuminate the diverse, on-the-ground reality of city life that statistics alone can’t capture.
Submission Guidelines
- Eligibility: Your story should relate to a personal urban experience — transportation, green spaces, infrastructure, safety, or community engagement.
- Length: 300–800 words.
- Style: First-person and conversational — write as though you’re telling a friend.
- Images: Up to three high-resolution images, properly credited.
- Video: One video up to three minutes, if relevant.
- Originality: Submissions must be original and not published elsewhere.
- Bio: A brief bio (50 words max) introducing yourself and your connection to urban living. Example: “Jane Doe is a local resident who has lived in the city for 10 years and is passionate about public transportation and sustainable urban development.”
How to Submit
- Email your story to contact@urbanfrontierinsights.com with the subject line “Citizen Story Submission — [Your Story Title]”.
- Include your story, your bio, and any images or video as attachments — high-quality and properly credited.
- Give it a read-through for clarity and typos before you send it.
- We’ll send a confirmation email and let you know within two weeks whether it’s been accepted for publication.
Every city has thousands of stories running through it at once — the view from the bus window, the argument at the planning meeting, the tree that finally went in outside your building. We’d love to help tell yours.
